Gujarat Ecology Commision and World Around You recently held a workshop on Prakruti ki Pathshala at the Green Valley School. The session focusing on Environment was designed not to flood data/information but inculcate a sense of belonging, ability to contribute and celebrate smallest of achievements.
Inspiring student initiatives for the environment
The workshop aimed to inspire student initiatives for the environment. Students were encouraged to take action and make a positive impact on the environment. They were provided with information on the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals, and they were taught how to align their actions with these goals.
- Reduce waste
- Conserve water
- Use renewable energy
- Plant trees
- Reduce carbon footprint
The students were also shown a documentary to raise awareness of climate change, the rapid advance in global warming and the impact of greenhouse gases.
Key features of the workshop session were – discovering love for world around you, generating a feeling of being a super hero where age doesn’t matter, avoiding eco-phobia and inspiring student initiatives for environment. The students responded very well and were curious to take measures they can to align with the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals. By inspiring student initiatives for the environment, the workshop aimed to make a positive impact on the environment and create a better future for all.
